Unlocking the Magic of Coffee Grounds: Healthy Home Options for Those Used Coffee Grounds 

 Love your coffee? Then you are familiar with the comforting ritual of brewing a fresh cup or pot of coffee each morning. But what happens to those used coffee grounds once your cup is brewed?

Instead of tossing them in the trash, why not put them to good use? Coffee grounds are a versatile and sustainable resource that can be repurposed for various healthy home options. From skincare to cleaning, here’s how you can unlock the magic of coffee grounds in your home.

Soil Enrichment

Add to your indoor and outdoor plants and to your garden! Mix with some soil first and then sprinkle around the plants. Adds nitrogen potassium magnesium and calcium trace minerals to the soil.

Face Mask

Coffee grounds are rich in antioxidants and have anti-inflammatory properties, making them an excellent ingredient for skincare. Here's how to make a rejuvenating face mask:

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons used coffee grounds
  • 2 tablespoons plain yogurt or honey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Mix the coffee grounds with yogurt or honey until you achieve a paste-like consistency.
  2. Optionally, add olive oil for extra moisture.
  3. Apply the mixture to your face, avoiding the eye area.
  4. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Gently massage your face in circular motions to exfoliate.
  6. Rinse off with warm water and pat dry.

Natural Body Scrub

Coffee grounds make for an effective and natural body scrub that exfoliates and smooths the skin. The caffeine can also help to improve circulation and reduce the appearance of cellulite.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup used coffee grounds
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil (melted)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

Instructions:

  1. Mix the coffee grounds, melted coconut oil, and brown sugar until well combined.
  2. Store the mixture in an airtight container.
  3. In the shower, apply the scrub to damp skin and massage gently.
  4. Rinse thoroughly with warm water.

3. Scour Pots and Pans

Tile, Grout and Surface Scrub

The abrasive nature of coffee grounds makes them an excellent choice for scrubbing tough stains on tile grout. Plus, they are a natural and eco-friendly alternative to harsh chemical cleaners.

Ingredients:

  • Used coffee grounds
  • Water
  • An old toothbrush or scrub brush

Instructions:

  1. Make a paste with coffee grounds and a small amount of water.
  2. Apply the paste to the grout using an old toothbrush or scrub brush.
  3. Scrub the grout in circular motions to lift stains and dirt.
  4. Rinse the area with warm water and wipe clean.

Deodorizer - Rugs, Carpets, Fabrics

Sprinkle dry grounds on carpet, rugs, upholstery. Allow to sit for a few hours and then vacuum up!
