How to Score Vintage Southwestern Décor in Scottsdale

Scottsdale, Arizona is a fantastic place for thrifting and secondhand shopping, especially for high-end furniture, unique vintage pieces, and estate sales from luxury homes.

Today, I visited the Foothills Pet Rescue Thrift Store, which I frequent monthly for awesome finds. Wednesdays and Saturdays are half price days - maybe I shouldn't share that!!!

There’s something undeniably exciting about thrift store shopping— I LOVE this type of shopping and I am not a shopper typically.

Walking into a shop with no idea what you’ll find and leaving with a one-of-a-kind treasure. If you love creating a home that’s stylish, unique, and full of personality, thrift stores, consignment shops, and estate sales can be your best friends. In this post, we’ll dive into the art of thrifting for home décor, share tips on how to score the best finds, and explore how to style your space beautifully on a budget.

Here are some of my "finds" from today, and watch the video for exact details and what I left behind!

Thrift shopping isn’t just about saving money; it’s about creating a home filled with charm, character, and sustainability. Here’s why it’s worth exploring:

  • Unique Finds – Unlike big-box stores, thrift shops carry one-of-a-kind items that add personality to your home.
  • High-Quality Pieces for Less – You can often find well-made, solid-wood furniture and designer décor for a fraction of the price.
  • Eco-Friendly – Buying secondhand reduces waste and gives new life to pre-loved items.
  • Budget-Friendly – Get the high-end look without the high-end price tag!

If you’re new to thrifting, start by exploring different types of secondhand shopping:

  • Thrift Stores – Goodwill, The Salvation Army, and local charity shops often have furniture, lamps, artwork, and textiles at bargain prices.
  • Consignment Shops – Upscale consignment stores like My Sister’s Attic (a Scottsdale favorite!) specialize in gently used designer furniture and décor.
  • Estate Sales – Check out estate sales in affluent neighborhoods to find high-end furniture, antiques, and home accessories at amazing prices.
  • Garage Sales – Keep an eye on community sales and neighborhood events for hidden gems.
